Federal Pacific panel, Challenger, Zinsco electrical panel you may have a potential safety concern. Most insurance companies require them to be changed for coverage. They have been known to cause fires due to mechanical failures in the circuit breaker. Federal Pacific and Challenger breakers have weak contacts that would expand and contract causing arcing in the panel. Underwriters’ laboratory tests and approve products based on safety and risk Products are required to be listed and most have lost the UL approval.

1. Do you have a challenger, Zinsco or Federal Pacific electrical panel? 
2. Do you smell burning from your electrical panel? Do your breakers get hot to the touch? 
3. Do you have enough space and capacity for additional circuitry?
4. Excessive tandem breakers or twins?  If you answered yes to any of these you may need your electrical panel replaced.
